Lange lockige Perücken-Mähnen, extravagante Outfits und viel Bling-Bling: Das Performance Duo FAKA sieht sich als Plattform für eine neue Queer-Szene, die in Johannesburg entsteht. So heißt FAKA auch auf Zulu „eindringen und besetzen“. Bei ihren spektakulären Auftritten kombinieren Fela Gucci and Desire Marea, Performance-Art mit Gqom-Beats, einer Mischung aus House und traditioneller afrikanischer Musik, aber auch Gospel und Kwaito findet sich im Sound der beiden. Während sie in ihren Videos Wert auf aufwändige Inszenierungen legen, sind ihre Liveauftritte so schweißtreibend, dass kein Outfit das lange mitmacht und sie gleich darauf verzichten.
